Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan), which marks its 18th anniversary this year, has started 11-day-long move festival.

Starting with an opening ceremony at Bucheon Stadium in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province on Thursday, PiFan presents a variety of 210 films from 48 nations (123 long films and 87 short films). "Stereo," a German thriller film directed by Maximilian Erlenwein, was screened as opening film. Based on the gangster genre, the film transcends present and past, and tears down the barrier between reality and fantasy.

Special programs await movie fans this year. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of gigantic kaiju (monster) Godzilla, "The Great Kaiju, Godzilla 60 Years" attracts monster fans. Supported by Argentina National Film Research Institute, "Blood Window to Latin America" presents South American movies under the title of "Strange Fantasy, Continent of Forbidden Desires: Latin America." "Harmony for 10 years: Korea National University of Arts and Beijing Film Academy" is a fruit of the joint short film production project that has been continuing since 2005 between Korea National University of Arts and Beijing Film Academy.

Closing film is "My Ordinary Love Story (featured by Song Sae-byeok and Kang Ye-won)," a new movie of the director Lee Gwon, who directed "Attack on the Pin-up Boys" in 2007. For more details, visit the PiFan official website (www.pifan.com).
