LG Display has proclaimed that it would top the world’s OLED TV market by strengthening the OLED business in China.

“Boasting the best picture quality, ultra-thin, ultra-light display and curved panel, I’m sure that OLED panels will become our next-generation displays,” LG Display CEO Han Sang-beom said in a press conference held at LG headquarters in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, on Thursday. “We’ll take the lead in developing OLED technology and creating new markets.”

LG Display sees that OLED TVs will be introduced in the Chinese market in earnest.

“We’re negotiating over supply with Chinese major home appliance makers such as Skyworth, Konka and Changhong,” Han said. “Success in China where readily accepts new technology and new products will decide the future of OLED TVs.”

In addition to the M1 manufacturing line, which can produce 8,000 sheets per month, LG Display will operate M2 in the second half of this year in an attempt to reinforce the OLED business. M2, a line in which the company invested around 700 billion won (689.1 million U.S. dollars), can produce 34,000 sheets of OLED TV panels per month, if it starts operation.
