The requests Korean national team led by coach Hong Myung-bo, 45, has made to the organizing committee for the 2014 World Cup Brazil include the installation of screen fence around its training camp, among others. Korea made the request to ensure confidentiality of its training. The team also requests the committee to place an adequate number of treadmills at the fitness club in its base camp hotel in Brazil. Such demands by Korea are rather ordinary and normal compared with those that are made by several other countries.
Recently, a Brazilian media outlet introduced countries that made unique demands to the organizing committee, and Japans requests were seen most notable. Japan demands that all the rooms at the teams lodging be refurbished with Jacuzzi during the World Cup. A jacuzzi is bathtub that generates bubbles in the water, and massages the person who takes bath.
The French team demands that its rooms be equipped with liquid soap, saying that its players are not accustomed to using bar soap. Algeria, the Islamic country that belongs to Group H with Korea, said it needs the Quran in its rooms. Ecuador said, All rooms should have bananas, stressing that they should be Ecuadorian bananas. Chile requests flat screen TVs, while Uruguay wants low-noise air conditioners.
Switzerland requests broad-band service in its rooms, while Honduras demands that its rooms offer six Spanish TV channels, including two of its own national broadcast channels. Portugal, which demands that a video game console be installed in each room, also wants deployment of six security guards, with four of them earmarked for top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid). However, demands by participating countries will be accepted selectively by the organizing committee.
