A senior dental student at Columbia University has been missing for a week as of Tuesday, and the New York Police Department started investigation focusing on the possibility of kidnapping.

U.S. media said Lee Ji-won, 29, a U.S. citizen who came from Korea when young, went missing after having her last phone call with her brother at her apartment on Upper West 98th Street in Manhattan at around 8:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

The NYPD thinks that she could have been kidnapped, and asked the Columbia University’s Korean Students Association to report her whereabouts. The association is searching for anyone who has seen her through Facebook and other social networking websites.

Lee is in the center of media attention as she was the president of the American Student Dental Student Association until two weeks ago and was also a comedian in New York. She was a part-time comedian in Broadway and her fellow comedians are reportedly looking for her.
