The “Choo Choo Train” Choo Shin-soo hit his first homer as a Texas Ranger at Surprise Stadium in Arizona on Thursday.

At an exhibition game against the San Francisco Giants, Choo hit a solo homer in the third inning, tying the game at 1-1. It is meaningful that Choo, who was battling elbow soreness, has garnered the homerun with a follow shot toward the fence.

Choo also had walks in the first and eighth innings, efficiently living up to the lead-up position, whose main role is to make it to the first base. In the eighth inning, he scored a run with a walk.

As the MLB website suggests on Thursday that “As destiny decrees, Choo an ideal leadoff man,” he has successfully demonstrated his talent. Despite rather sluggish on base percentage at 0.308 as of Thursday, Choo is gradually enhancing his performance with a batting average of 0.190. The two teams tied the game 4-4.
