Kim Yu-na, 24, is inarguably a strong favorite in the woman’s single rounds the Sochi Winter Olympics. Many global media and the International Olympics Committee posted her pictures on their website, expecting the figure skating queen’s second gold medal in the Olympics.

But does the world want a new figure skating star? Things changed after the woman’s team figure skating event on Monday. Yulia Lipnitskaya, 16, who led the Russian team to victory with a score of 141.51, drew global attention.

The Forbes said on Monday, “A 15-year-old may be the best story of the Winter Olympics, a budding superstar who will do for Sochi and NBC what Nadia Comaneci did for the Montreal Summer Olympics and ABC in 1976.” As a 15-year-old competing for Romania, Comaneci scored the first perfect 10 in Olympics history in women’s gymnastics, winning three gold medals. The magazine placed the Russian figure skater on the same level as Comaneci, the best “Cinderella” in the Olympic history.
