A Korean American businessman posted a billboard ad (1 meter wide by 2 meter long) that reads “Unification is a bonanza” at Times Square in Manhattan, New York, a place that draws about 50 million visitors every year, drawing keen attention.

The phrase is what President Park Geun-hye mentioned in her New Year’s press conference on January 6 and at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 22. Han Tae-gyuk, 68, president of Bridge Enterprise who set up the ad by spending 5,000 U.S. dollars out of his own pocket, said, “I wanted to publicize President Park`s recent message on unification of the two Koreas to Americans and tourists from around the world.”

The message was written in seven languages -- English, French, Chinese, Russian, Italian, German and Spanish. Under the phrase “Unification is bonanza” is a line “Korean Unification would be an immeasurable BONANZA for any nations with interests in the Korean Peninsula.”
