NK likely to break ground next week on 2 projects with China

A groundbreaking ceremony for North Korea’s Rason Special District and Hwangkumpyong development projects will reportedly come next week. The projects are the most important economic cooperation initiatives between North Korea and China.

Sources in China`s Yanbian Autonomous District in Jilin Province and Dandong in Liaoning Province said Friday that the groundbreaking ceremony for the special district in Rason Special City will be held Thursday and that for the development of Hwangkumpyong in the Yalu River near Shinuiju will come Tuesday.

Pyongyang and Beijing agreed to jointly conduct the project.

In addition to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rason district, another for the paving and repair of roads linking Hunchun and Rason Special City will also be held in the latter Thursday.
