As China announced to impose retaliation tariff on 659 goods as a response to the United State’s decision to impose 25 percent tariff on 1,102 goods such as state-of-the-art items made in China worth 50 billion dollars, President Trump strongly warned that he would move to counter by imposing additional 10 percent of retaliation tariff on Chinese products that are four times as much as the original plan.

The Trump administration implied that it would not make additional actions if China withdraws its tariff imposition measures, which is to be implemented on July 6. “The United States will no longer be taken advantage of on trade by China and other countries in the world,” said Mr. Trump. “After the legal process is complete, these tariffs will go into effect if China refuses to change its practices, and also if it insists on going forward with the new tariffs that it has recently announced.”

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce criticized the United States on Wednesday through a discourse, saying, “This kind of dramatic pressure and threat is an action that violates the agreement between the two countries and disappoints the international society.” In other words, China expressed its position that it will fight back to the same scale if the United States’ retaliation of imposing additional tariff becomes a reality.
