The two watercolor paintings of “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the famous French writer, were auctioned off at 520,200 euros.

Le Figaro, a French daily newspaper, reported on Wednesday (local time), that an A4-sized image of the little prince watching a sunset was sold at 294,000 euros at the Paris-based Artcurial auction house. The other piece depicting the prince lying on his stomach in a rose garden was sold at 226,000 euros.

Saint-Exupery, a former pilot, escaped to the U.S. after the Nazi Germany’s invasion of France in 1940. He published the famous book in 1943 in the U.S. He mysteriously disappeared near Marseille in July 1944 after taking off on a wartime mission.
