The soundtrack of "A Woman in Winter," the top Korean hit movie in the 1970s, was reprinted in a LP record form for the first time in 40 years.

The soundtrack in LP record, which will be released Thursday, enlists "A Letter Written in Tears" by Kim Se-hwa and "Winter Story," a duet song by Lee Yeong-sik and Kim Se-hwa, as well as all other songs that had been contained in the original record through sound quality revision.

"A Woman in Winter," which Kim Seong-ok adapted from Cho Hae-il's novel and movie director Kim Ho-sun who was in charge of production, was released in 1977 only in Dansung movie theater garnering 580,000 viewers. It beat "Heavenly Homecoming to Stars," released in 1974 and attracting 460,000 viewers, posting a historical number of viewers. The movie heralded the start of a Korean movie attracting 500,000 viewers.

Back then, people waited in lines to buy tickets that started from Biwon ranging 2 kilometers, which made headlines. The record was beaten only 13 years later by director Lim Gwon-taek's "The Son of a General" that attracted 670,000 viewers.

"A Woman in Winter" also got attention for its unique music that combined ballad and jazz. Jeong Seong-jo, the late jazz saxophone player who later became conductor of KBS Orchestra, composed the whole list of songs for the movie. "Winter Women," a light music collection, is the highlight of the album, with side A and B having A-D and E-H parts, respectively, with each part containing four pieces of music. Piano and pipe music intersect each other with such jazz fusion play unveiling tension, relaxation and lyricism.

"Winter Love," which contains the winter lyricism with two versions of light music and songs, is also impressive. "Winter Story" was also a big hit with lyrics going, "We spoke of winter in spring, our winter rests in spring," combined with melodies.

The album had been resold in a CD in 2012, but it is the first time that an LP record type is resold. It was produced in to a 180-gram record by requesting to a special plant in Germany.
