“Dropping away that pure petal/ the flower wishes to grow back/ after the hard stomping/ the flower is buried deep inside/ my tears flow unrecognized/ when will my flower bloom again/ when will my flower bloom again.”

Audiences listened carefully as a Korean singer Lee Eun-mi’s “Flower” resonated at Manhattan, New York on Friday (local time). The song was heard at “Concept Korea Fashion Show” held at Skylight Clarkson Square during the New York Fashion Week (Feb. 9-16).

Sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency, the show was highly appraised by some 500 visitors who saw unique concepts of designers including Kim Tae-geun of Johanix, Kim Hee-jin of KimiJay, and Park Yoon-hee of Greedilouss. “The song depicts a girl with no parents who aspires to become a singer, who chokes down her tears and sings after a long and arduous day," said Kim Tae-geun who chose “Flower” as the background music of the show. "The song inspired us to express this complex reality and unfulfilled dreams.”

Kim Hee-jin’s concepts are street cleaners and waste. “The delicate silhouettes found in public goods and uniforms commonly found in wastes by using their achromatic colors,” she said.

“I created the clothes with unique identity for feminine and casual silhouettes inspired by classic checks from the movie Sherlock Holmes,” Park Yoon-hee said.

Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis gave remarks right after the show. “Korean fashion designers who participated in ‘Concept Korea’ have introduced their own unique fashion concepts," she said. "Their sophisticated collections with various colors and materials will draw attention in the global market.” The show also invited Korean actress Hwang Shin-hye and Clara, while Hwang’s daughter Lee Jin-yi was invited as a “special guest model.”
