You can listen to a live orchestra performance while studying score at a concert hall. The Seoul Arts Center will start selling tickets for score desk seats for the first time in Korea. The first concert will be “11 o’clock concert (with conductor Suh Jin, pianist Cho Jae-hyuck, violinist Kim Dong-hyun and the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra),” scheduled at the SAC’s concert hall on January 19 at 11 p.m.

As the name implies, ticketholders can study score during a live performance. The SAC will offer four score desk seats located in the third-floor box area of the concert hall. Score desk seats do not offer a view of the stage, but seats are equipped with score desks and intensity-adjustable lightings.

The Metropolitan Opera in New York sells tickets for score desk seats and provides 24 special seats in the limited-view seat area. In addition, scores may be borrowed.

The SAC plans to operate score desk seats for a month to get response from audience. “People may complain about noise coming from turning pages of score and lighting may interrupt players. However, at the same time, it will be a good chance for classic students and classic lovers. ”

Tickets for the concert range from 16-21 dollars, while tickets for score desk seats are sold at 16 dollars. Tickets for score desk seats may be purchased by calling the Seoul Arts Center’s call center at 02-580-1300.
