The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Monday it will expand the Seoul Station walking tour course to six from four starting Wednesday. The tour course is a program where people can tour Seoul's famous hidden sites and listen to history and culture stories on areas and buildings.

The newly added courses include "foreign tourists course" and "children and family course," that will tour Seoul's major tourist areas. The former starts every Tuesday from Seoul Station, passes Namdaemun Church and Square Garden to Seoul fortress and Baekbeom Plaza, and then to Sungryemum and Namdaemum Market. The commentaries will proceed in English.

The latter is promoted on Saturdays, and is a course that tours areas where historical figures had presence in. People can tour Seoul Station Plaza where the statue of Korean Independence activist Kang Woo-kyu is located, Seoul fortress that Joseon Dynasty's founder King Taejo built, Baekbeom Plaza built to commemorate independence activist Kim Koo and patriot Ahn Jung-keun Memorial Hall.

In addition, the existing "Joongrim-Chungjeong course" and “Cheongpa-Gongdeok course" will be promoted on a daily basis. People can enjoy old towns in Seoul including Seongwoo Barbershop (Joongrim-Chungjeong course) that has been in operation for nearly 90 years. About two hours each are allocated for each course. People can apply beforehand (yeyak.seoul.go.kr) and participation is free.
