Musical festival to be held at a Gyeonggi island early next month

The 2016 Zara Musical Festival, Korea's first outdoor musical festival, will be held at Jara Island of Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province for two days from September 3. A total of 75 artists will be on stage including 56 musical actors including Hong Gwang-ho, Han Ji-sang, Kai and Yoon Kong-joo.

The participating musical actors have so far performed in 467 musicals including Man of La Mancha, Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserable, Empress Myeongseong and The Day. At the festival that runs a total of 18 hours, they will sing more than 90 musical songs. The performance will be at an outdoor site as people can sing along while enjoying various foods.

The festival will be composed of four programs including JMF big theater, JMF small theater, JMF night theater, and JMF sea party. The highlight is the JMF big theater. Hong Gwang-ho, who is currently performing Quasimodo at the musical Notre Dame de Paris, Michael Lee, who performs both in New York's Broadway and Seoul, Choi Hyun-joo, Yoon Kong-joo, Kai, Choi In-cheol, Jeon Na-yeong, Seoul Train will be on stage. At the JMF small theater, "Musical Story Show, With Lee Seok-joon" will be on. Music director Koo So-young will prepare "Hot Stage" with Hong Woo-jin and Goh Hoon-jeong among others.
