The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute said on Monday that the meteor shower will peak between 10 p.m. Friday and 12:30 a.m. Saturday this week.

The annual Perseid meteor shower is observed on earth around this time of each year, which can be observed near the Perseid in the north-east part of the sky.

The meteor shower occurs when the debris stream of comet “109/ Swift-Tuttle” passes near the orbit of the Earth. The International Meteor Organization predicted around 150 shooting stars fall per hour.

The stars can be observed from anywhere in Korea including urban areas, but a place with no light or buildings and mountains blocking eyesight will be the best spot for observation.

Although the meteor shower will be concentrated around the Perseid constellation, focusing on this area only might lead to missing more stars. The better way to observe is to watch in a wider angle. The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute advised to stay leaned on a chair or lie down on a mat to stay comfortable for a long time.
