Cho Seong-jin signs with Deutsche Grammophon

Cho Seong-jin who won the main prize at the recent Chopin Piano Competition in Poland has signed exclusive contract with world renowned label Deutsche Grammophon.

Cho's agency Solea Management of France posted the news at its website Sunday. Cho will publish several albums through Deutsche Grammophon. Asian pianists who previously made exclusive contracts with this label include Lang Lang, Yundi and Yuja Wang.

According to Solea Management, Cho is fully booked until next year. He will be collaborating with the U.K.'s Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Russia's St. Petersburg Philharmonic led by Yuri Temirkanov, Russia National Orchestra led by Mikhail Pletnev and Tokyo Philharmonic conducted by Chung Myung-hoon.

He will also have debut performances at Royal Concertgebouw Recital Hall in the Netherlands, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, London International Piano Series, Tokyo Santori Hall, Prague Spring Festival, Klavier-Festival Ruhr and Carnegie Hall.

Cho's live Chopin album published by Deutsche Grammophon in November last year was sold more than 80,000 pieces in Korea alone. The album will also be released in two LP record formats starting Feb. 4. Cho will perform at a gala concert joined by Chopin winners at Seoul Arts Center in Seoul at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
