Dancing masters perform at the Seoul Dance Festival

Interpretative dancers and popular celebrities perform for the 39th Seoul Dance Festival between Nov. 22 and Dec. 4 at the Theater of Arts Council Korea. Since the Korea Dance Festival, the forerunner, was established in 1979 to promote dance arts through interpretative dancing performances, the Seoul Dance Festival has showcased a wide range of dance from Korean cultural dancing to contemporary choreography to ballet.

This year’s festival provides visitors with a variety of programs where masters of various genres, who have laid the foundation for Korean interpretative dancing by interacting with the rest of the world by dance. Four renowned dancers come on stage to amuse audiences - Korean contemporary dancing master Yook Wan-sun, Lee Seon-ok, who combines contemporary dancing and Buddhism, and great interpretative dancer Kim Mae-ja and James Jeon, one of the founding members of Korea’s first private ballet company.
