The 20th Bucheon International Animation Festival opens between Oct. 19 and 23 at three cinemas including the Bucheon City Hall, the Korea Manhwa Museum and Bucheon CGV where 161 animated films from 30 countries are to show.

Programmers recommended seven films including "Motel Rose," "The Last Fiction," "Funan," and "Flavors of Youth." The opening film is "Another Day Of Life," which was the only animated film invited to this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The documentary film depicts a war correspondent’s biography during the 1975 Angola civil war.

The festival will also release "Speckles: The Tarbosaurus" for the first time, which Korean producers have worked on for more than five years. It describes a dinosaur named Speckles making his way to find out his missing son after losing his family to a catastrophe. Several dozens of dinosaurs are to appear in the film.

Japanese voice actor and singer Yui Horie visits Bucheon to greet animated film fans at the opening ceremony on Oct. 19. She is scheduled to watch "Miss Monochrome," where her voice was dubbed, at the Korea Manhwa Museum at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday before meeting her fans.

Meanwhile, the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra will perform seven classical music pieces in Disney’s animation film "Fantasia 2000," at 5 p.m. Saturday at Eoul Madang, on the second floor of the Bucheon City Hall.
