Seoul City to operate a free program to foster experts on insects

The Seoul city government plans to nurture insect experts. It announced on Wednesday that it would operate a program to foster experts in insect resources sector starting from May at the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center.

The city will invite 35 Seoul citizens who work in the insect industry related fields or those who are interested in the industry.

People will be able to learn about the industrialization of insects, which is known to be one of the promising industrial resources in the future. The program will also offer education on the type and characteristics of industrial insects, breeding technology and trend of insects, operation of smart farm for growing insects as well as basic knowledge and professional technology for producers to start a business. The program is offered free of charge.

Education on basic knowledge will be provided for four days from May 8, and participants will visit the field once every week from May 17 to October 11. .

Applications can be made through agro.seoul.go.kr, the Agricultural Technology Center website, from April 12 to April 20 by submitting a cover letter, study plan and business plan by email (hsunny1227@seoul.go.kr). The result will be announced on the homepage on April 27.
