New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Tuesday (local time) that it would held a special art exhibition “Kumgangsan: Trip and Nostalgia at Korean Art Paintings,” honoring the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the 20th anniversary of Korean art booth at the museum.

The special exhibition will be held from February 7 to May 20 next year at Galleries of Asian Arts on the second floor of the museum. Twenty-seven paintings featuring Kumgangsan landscape, including a painting of renowned Korean painter Jeongseon (1676-1759), will be exhibited.

Among Jeongseon’s paintings, two famous paintings owned by the National Museum of Korea and Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, respectively, are going to be specially exhibited. Several paintings created in the 19th century and owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be also open to the public.
