Park Tae-hwan beat competitive contenders and grabbed his second gold medal at an international swimming event before the FINA World Aquatics Championships to be held in Budapest in July.
On Sunday, Park finished first at the 200-meter freestlye race at Sette Colli Trophy held at Stadio del Nuoto in Rome, with the time of 1:46:89. He was way ahead of the British Nicholas Granger (1:48:30) and Duncan Scott (1:48:47).
Park also received a gold medal on Saturday when he came in first at 3:44:54 at his favorite 400-meter freestyle race. Rio Olympics bronze medalist Gabrielle Detti (Italy, 3:45:88) and the gold medalist Mack Horton (Australia, 3:45:88) who is world No. 1, finished as second and third, respectively.
Park heightened possibilities of gaining back his top position since he won the 400-meter freestyle at the FINA World Championships in 2011, as he beat six contenders ranked in the top-10 this season.
