Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been put on the disabled list a day after clinching his first win in this season.

“Ryu Hyun-jin has been put on a 10-day disabled list due to a bruise on his left hip,” the Dodgers said on Monday local time. As a result, the South Korean pitcher will be skipping games for at least 10 days. It means that he could be excluded once or twice from the rotating starting pitchers. “Right now with us, and obviously with the starters, we don’t want to put him in harm’s way at all,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “Hopefully he’ll just miss one start.” It is the sixth time that Ryu has made the disabled list since his Major league debut in 2014.

The local media in Los Angeles say that Ryu had his hip bump onto the ground while sliding into second base in Sunday’s win over the Phillies. The Dodgers manager said that Ryu could have a glute strain. However, experts say that progress of his injury needs to be continuously checked since a player could feel pain in the hip even when he suffers a shoulder or elbow injury. Ryu has had surgeries in his shoulder and elbow.
