A series of consecutive victory by Chelsea has been stopped by Tottenham inspirited by its home country.

On Thursday, Tottenham ended Chelsea's longest winning streak in a single season with a 2-0 victory in 20 rounds of play at the 2016-2017 England Premier League held in White Hart Lane, London.

On the day, Chelsea challenged for its 14 successive victories, the largest in a single season in EPL history.

Up to date, Arsenal holds the best record of 14 victories in the EPL, 13 of which came from the 2001-2002 season while the remaining one from opening game in the 2002-2003 season.

Dele Allis’ first goal scored at the end of the first half and second one early in the second period gave Tottenham five consecutive victories. Having scored goals for four games in a row, Allis boasted his sense of goal by scoring two from all of the recent three games. Moving into a third place, Tottenham (12-6-2, winning points of 42) narrowed down the gap with Chelsea (16-1-3, winning points of 49) to seven points. "It is a massive victory, a very important three points to reduce the gap at the top of the table,” Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham’s manager, expressed his delight.

This was the 50th face-to-face confrontation between the two in the League. Coming far behind Chelsea with its past record of five wins, 19 ties and 26 losses, Tottenham inspirited by its home country stopped Chelsea’s winning streak, which lasted for more than three months.

Including the match against Chelsea, Tottenham didn’t miss even a single victory during 10 games (eight wins and two ties) this season. Although Chelsea is ahead of Tottenham by a wide margin, it has strangely failed to grab a victory in Tottenham’s home ground for recent decade.

From the 11 games held in England in November 2006, Chelsea has been definitely inferior to Tottenham with one win, five ties and five losses.

The 4-2 victory in October 2012 at White Hart Lane was the last victory that Chelsea had. "We must be proud about this because it’s a great achievement, 13 wins in a row,” Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said.
