Lee Chung-yong (28) of Crystal Palace in the English Premier League has been under attack by Crystal Palace coach Alan Pardew.

“I got angry when Lee had not delivered my instructions during a match with Manchester City on Sunday,” Pardew, who manages Crystal Palace, said in an interview with UK’s Daily Mail on Tuesday. In the Premier League game against Manchester City, Lee replaced Christian Benteke in the 36th minute of the second half. Pardew told Lee, who was replacing Benteke, to tell his team players to change the player defending Manchester City’s midfielder Yaya Toure after Benteke was taken out, but his instruction was not delivered as it should be. Unfortunately, Toure scored a goal when corner kick was allowed in the 38th minute of the second half and the game ended with Manchester City’s 2-1 victory. Crystal Palace players, who were flocked around a goalpost, failed to defend Toure. “It is the kind of mistakes we rarely make, but Lee’s fault cannot be accepted,” Pardew said. “Lee should put uniform on, which has written instructions on it.”

Lee continues to struggle to be back in the starting line up in this season. In seven games out of 10 games he played, he was a substitute. Lee’s team fined Lee when he openly criticized Pardew during an interview with a Korean newspaper in May. Sources forecast that Lee could try to look for a new team in the winter transfer window considering Lee’s weakening position in the team and a cacophony between Lee and Pardew.
