Kim Si-woo advances to final round of PGA Tour playoff

Korean golfer Kim Si-woo (21) has successfully advanced to the Tour Championship, the final round of the PGA Tour playoff, a competition only the 30 best golfers in the world can take part.

Kim reduced a stroke by garnering four birdies and having three bogeys in the fourth round, the final day of the third round BMW Championship of the PGA Tour, which took place at Crooked Stick Golf Club (par 72; 7,516 yards) in Carmel, Indiana on Monday. Kim posted 7-under 281 overall to finish the event, tying for 20th, and to secure a berth to take part in the Tour Championship, the final round of the playoffs as the 18th-ranked golfer in the FedEx Cup.

The Tour Championship, which will start at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta, Georgia on Sept. 22, is a competition where only the players ranking 30th or higher are allowed to take part and race to become the season’s best golfer. The purse money for the winner of this event amounts to 1.485 million U.S. dollars, but the player who ranks first in the FedEx Cup in overall scores tallied with the championship as the season’s last event, will pocket 10 million dollars in bonus.
