Ryu Hyun-jin (29·pictured), the Korean major league pitcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will likely make his comeback on July 8. Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said on Sunday local time that Ryu would come back as early as this Thursday (Friday in Korean time), adding that the Korean pitcher could return to the major league baseball later after the All Star break if his comeback does not occur on the announced day.

The Dodgers will play against the San Diego Padres on Friday at Dodger Stadium, which are ranked the lowest in the West Division of the National League. During the 2013/2014 season, Ryu took the plate against the Padres five times, chalking up a remarkable record of four wins and no loss with the ERA at 0.84. The Dodgers are in an urgent need of a starting pitcher, owing to the absence of their ace Clayton Kershaw, who is suffering from back injury.

Choo Shin-soo (34), the Korean slugger of the Texas Rangers, pulled off two hits and three runs in five at-bats against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, on the back of a single home run in the top of the first inning. In fact, Choo has hit three homers in the first innings as lead-off batter out of the six home runs that he has recorded this season.

Closing pitcher of the St. Louis Cardinals Oh Seung-hwan (34) sealed his second save this season against the Milwaukee Brewers. With the Cardinals taking the lead by 9-4, Oh took the mount on the top of the ninth inning full base, no outs, to allow four runs (one earned run), but managed to prevent a reverse, keeping the lead by 9-8. Kim Hyun-soo of the Baltimore Orioles and Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates recorded two and zero hit respectively out of five batting attempts.
