Hyundai Motor World Rally team player has ranked No. 1 at the sixth contest at 2016 World Rally Championship.

Hyundai Motor said Monday that Thierry Neuville ranked No. 1 in individuals at the WRC being held in Italy from Thursday through Sunday. Neuville started the first day at sixth and jumped to No. 1 the following day to keep that ranking until the end of the competition. It is the first time in two years he ranked No.1 in the individuals.

In the manufacturer ranking, Hyundai Motor was placed second after Volkswagen, allowing it to keep its second ranking with cumulative store of 108 points.

Hyundai ranked No. 1 in individuals among two competitions in this year's WRC, and No. 1 ranking in the manufacturers’ competition. At the WRC in Argentina in April, Hayden Paddon was ranked No. 1 in individuals. In January and April, Hyundai had ranked No. 1 in the manufacturer competition.

Hyundai Motor attributed its top ranking results of this year to its new i20 Rally Car, which was developed in cooperation between Hyundai Motor Sports and Namyang Research Institute. Michel Nandan, director of Hyundai Motor's WRC, said this competition proved that the new i20 rally car is competitive, adding more good results are expected until this season ends.
