Conor Mcgregor, a star fighter at mixed marshal arts UFC, suddenly announced Tuesday that he will retire, causing stir at the world marshal arts sector.

The 27-year-old wrote at his Twitter account saying he decided to retire when still young, adding he appreciated support people had given. Mcgregor rose to a key UFC fighter in December last year when he beat Jose Aldo for a KO in the first 12 seconds to become a featherweight champion. His popularity surged for his attack-oriented play and showmanship.

He sent fans into raptures when he drove welterweight class Nathan Donald Diaz beat KO though he ultimately lost by abstention at round 2. Taking note, the UFC had the two compete again on July 10. However, as he announced retirement, UFC President Dana White said the competition was cancelled.

Rumors are spreading on why he is retiring at a prime age. Some speculate he was caught in drug intake. Others say he was shocked by the death of one of his fellow fighters. Charlie Ward, Mcgregor's gym mate, died after ending his fight in Ireland on April 12, and as Mcgregor was there at the stadium he could have lost motivation.

However, UFC fighter Donald Cerrone told people not to trust Mcgregor's words. UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos said Mcgregor is not a man who flees from rivals.

There are many possibilities that Mcgregor will return to Octagon. He has shown thirst for revenge after losing to Diaz, and was aggressive in a title match with Anjos. He also has five more matches to go under contract with UFC.
