Park Sung-hyun said one of her goals for the new year is to show more stable performance, before leaving for Orlando, the U.S. on Monday to train for the new season She will have a training period for almost two months without participating in a match. Park is not entering the Tournament of Champions to be held on January 17 even though the game invites winners of this year. Her first match will be Honda Thailand opening on February 21, the fourth match of the season.

“She is going to train for short games during winter while focusing on strengthening stamina,” said Park Sung-hyun's agent, Sema Sports Marketing.

Park who ranks second globally did not show excellent performance early on during the season after she joined LPGA in 2017. She had her first victory in the U.S. Women’s Open in July 2017 and the first trophy in the Texas Classic in May even though she was out of 20th in four matches in February and March. Park says that she needed time to adapt to changes in the swing style early in the season. Overcoming slow start is another challenge for her.

“I wish good luck to everyone in 2019,” said Park before leaving Korea. "I will do my best to repay the support that my fans have shown me."
