World No. 2 Roger Federer has raised his 7th winning trophy of this season high up in the sky. He defeated “a very difficult opponent” at the final of the men's tournament by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). The tournament took place in his hometown of Basel, Switzerland, where he worked as a ball boy in his childhood, which gave more significance to his victory.
The 36-year-old played against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, world No. 19, at male single final of the Swiss Indoors on Monday, and came from behind and won by 2-1 (6-7, 6-4, 6-3).
Federer lost to del Potro at the finals of this tournament twice in 2012 and 2013. Federer’s records against del Potro are 18 wins and six loses (as of Monday), which he is taking the lead, but he always struggled to defeat del Potro when he had to play against him in this tournament. But Federer finally overcame his jinx on Monday and won the prize money of 395,850 euros. This is his 7th title in 2017, including the two major championships of the Australian Open and the Championships at Wimbledon.
