Chun In-gee, winner of the 2016 LPGA Evian Championship, the Rookie of the Year prize and the Bear, failed to win a single victory on the 2017 LPGA tour and claimed five runner-up positions. However, the 23-year-old golfer, ranked world No. 7, seems all the more determined in front of her Korean fans. "I missed Korean fans letting out a big cheer while playing abroad. I can enjoy the game here."

After the second round of the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship at Sky72 Golf & Resort (par 72) in Incheon on Friday, Chun headed for her first season win of 2017 by joining the top group with her strong shots. At the start of the round 2, Chun was placed tied for 16th. However, carding a 7-under-par from 8 birdies and 1 bogey, she was placed in second place, tied with Park Sung-hyun, world No. 2, with a two-round total of 135 (9-under-par). Surprisingly, Chun fired six birdies in the latter half of the round 2, while Park, who was leading (tied) the first round, seemed losing the drive and only shot a three-under par. American golfer Angel Yin marked an 11-under par, leading Chun and Park by two strokes.

"I missed many short birdie putt chances yesterday. I tried not to worry about putting this time and followed my feeling. It really helped in the second round,” said Chun. “I have not claimed any victory this season, but I'm not thinking about the sophomore jinx.”
