The final race of the world’s fastest man from Jamaica ended in an outcome that no one could have predicted.

Usain Bolt ran as the fourth runner of the Jamaican team in men’s 400-meter relay competition at the 2017 IAAF World Championships at the Olympic Stadium in London on Sunday.

He would cross the finish line with an explosively powerful spurt in the past, but he lost balance while stepping his left foot at the 14th step after taking over the baton on the day. He looked as if in deep pain as he continued race crippling, before collapsing in the end. He was seen lying down for a while even after all the other runners crossed the finish line. As Bolt collapsed, the Jamaican team’s dream to sweep the 400-relay competition for five consecutive years went up in smoke.

Having won only one bronze medal (100 meter race) in his last event, Bolt said in his Facebook post, "Thank you my peeps. Infinite love for my fans."
