The Seoul metropolitan government will prepare for Chinese tourists’ visit to the city during the Spring Festival, the largest event for Chinese (from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2). It set the period as the “week for Chinese tourists” and will have various discount events.

During the period, foreign tourists including Chinese can get an up to 30 percent discount in some 100 stores in the tourism districts including Myeongdong, Itaewon and COEX. Tickets for the Seoul City Bus connecting six tourist destinations will be offered at a 20-40 percent discount. To get a discount, one should show one’s passport.

The “Discover Seoul Pass,” a ticket allowing access to 16 destinations including four old palace, galleries and museums in Seoul, is sold at a 25 percent discount. The Seoul city government will provide discounts at new duty free shops and promotional events on its tourist website (www.visitseoul.net).

It will build a large snowball with three meters in diameter and a photo booth at a square in front of the Namsan N Tower where most Chinese tourists visit. “We will offer Chinese tourists with various Korean culture events during the festive period so that they can visit Seoul again,” a source from the city government said.
