"The wooden plate of work collection of Kim Do-am (1825-1912), who had fought as an army leader at the late period of Joseon, and a wooden plate of work of Kim Hee-joo (1760-1830), who was a scholar, were donated," the center said. "They are the first Confucianism book donated from overseas."
Shultz majored in the Goryeo Dynasty's military regime, and is a key Korean studies scholar residing overseas who has translated Korean history books into English. Lee has studied immigration history of Hawaii for the past 15 years.
The Confucianism book was registered at the UNESCO world heritage in October last year for its spiritual value and social influence. Only 19 pieces of Kim Do-am's works were registered, while Kim Hee-joo's wasn't because it was not secured at that time. The center will make additional applications for Confucianism books donated thereafter.
