Rockies right-hander Oh Seung-hwan pitched a scoreless outing in his major league postseason debut. In the wild card game between the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago Cubs held at Wrigley Field in Chicago Tuesday, the South Korean reliever stood on the mound in the bottom of the 10th, when the score tied at 1-1, and tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and two walks while striking out one.

With the outing, Oh became the only Korean to appear in postseasons in Korea, Japan, and the U.S. He won the Korea Series five times while he played for Samsung Lions in Korea. When he joined Japanese professional baseball team Hanshin Tigers in 2014, the team finished second in the Japan Series that year. Oh made his Major League debut in 2016, signing with the St. Louis Cardinals. In July this year, Oh moved to the Colorado Rockies, helping the team to reach the postseason.

The Rockies defeated the Cubs Tuesday when Tony Walters drove in the winning run in the top of the 13th to give Rockies a 2-1 lead. A total of 14 pitchers from the two teams stood on the mound in this tough match. Clinching a victory in a tiebreaker game against the Cubs, the Rockies will advance to the NL Division Series to face the Milwaukee Brewers in a best-of-five series starting Friday. There is a possibility that two Korean pitchers, Oh Seung-hwan and Ryu Hyun-jin, will face against each other in the postseason if the Rockies beats the Brewers and the Dodgers defeats the Atlanta Braves.
