Thursday had the hottest morning this year throughout the nation as the morning temperature in Seoul reached 30.3 degrees Celsius, the first time to go above 30 degree Celsius.

Seoul recorded the highest morning temperature across the nation, followed by Incheon (29.1), Daejeon (27.6), Dongducheon (26.9) of Gyeonggi Province, Paju (26.8) and Yeosu (27.7) of South Jeolla Province.

Seoul, which set a new record for the highest day temperature on the previous day, made another as the highest “low” temperature ever recorded since 1907.

Up to now, the highest low temperature of Seoul was 29.2 degrees Celsius on July 23. Gangneung holds the record for the highest low temperature across the nation, at 30.9 degrees Celsius on August 8, 2013.

On Thursday, the day temperature slightly dropped by one or two degrees Celsius compared to the previous day. The high pressure weakened temporarily and clouded over, while the east wind, which blew flame-like hot air, waned. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that the heat wave would carry on until at least August 12, without any chance of rain.
