The U.S. government has formally exempted South Korea from additional tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. South Korea is the first country to be exempted from tariffs among seven countries including Canada, Mexico and Australia that are granted postponement.

The White House said Monday in a statement that U.S. President Donald Trump issued two proclamations authorizing modifications of the Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum. The agreement calls for an annual import quota while granting the exemption.
