Pope Francis met with South Korean religious leaders, members of the Korean Council of Religious Leaders, on Saturday (local time) at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. The pope said that the mankind must deny disputes between individuals and communities, ethnic groups, and nations, but instead pursue reconciliation.

The pope said, “The Catholic Church should reach, cooperate with other religious leaders. We also need to recognize, protect and promote their assets and values. To have substantial results among religions, we should be open and respect for each other.”   


Pope Francis said he still remembered his visit to South Korea in 2014, adding he was grateful to God and loving South Koreans. The pope added that he hopes the fulfilled friendship and good memories could serve as the power to move forward. 


The Korean Council of Religious Leaders said it was the first time that the pope had a separate meeting with South Korean religious leaders at the papal palace and they could felt a deep interest and affection to Korea.
