The U.S. is taking unilateral action to pressure North Korea and China as President Donald Trump failed to find a solution to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue at the summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach.

American news media NBC reported on Friday (local time) by quoting sources from the authorities that the preemptive strike such as assassination of Kim Jong Un and redeployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula were included in the Trump administration’s North Korea policy. According to NBC, the White House National Security Council (NSC) completed the review of its North Korea policy and reported such policy options to President Trump.

Trump dispatched USS Car Vinson (CVN-70) nuclear-powered aircraft carrier group from Singapore to western Pacific Ocean near the Korean Peninsula on Saturday. The U.S. aircraft carrier headed back to the Korean Peninsula where it participated in “Foal Eagle” military exercise conducted by the U.S. and South Korea last month.

"We’re hopeful that we can work together with the Chinese to change the conditions in the minds of the DPRK leadership," U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after the U.S.-China summit on Friday. “But I think there’s a shared view and no disagreement as to how dangerous the situation has become. And I think even China is beginning to recognize that this presents a threat to even to China’s interests as well.”

The two leaders did not mention on China’s retaliatory actions over THAAD deployment after the summit, and it appeared that the two sides failed to hammer out their differences.
