Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday expressed optimism over the Sino-U.S. relations. "Our hope … is that no matter what bumps this relationship hits, we hope it'll continue to move forward in a positive direction," he said in an answer to a Japanese reporter's question during his media briefing at the end of the National People's Congress in Beijing. He also said that prospects for the two countries are "bright," as U.S. President Donald Trump and senior U.S. administration officials show a clear attitude toward the "One China" policy.

However, Li did not mention the U.S. deployment of its advanced missile defense system in South Korea, although the issue has become the hottest issue between the two great powers. In addition to the fact that the asker did not specify the issue, it is also believed that he controlled the level of his comments on such a sensitive issue ahead of the Sino-U.S. summit scheduled in April.
