Tiger Woods who left the field for over a year is expected to make his comeback next month.

Despite rumors of a possible retirement after three back surgeries, Woods announced to participate in three competitions starting this October on his official website on Thursday. His comeback will be held at Safeway Open - the season-opening event for 2016-17 PGA Tour - at Silverado Resort, California. He is scheduled for another round at Turkish Airline Open for the European Tour at Antalya, Turkey on Nov. 3. His third event is to be taken at Bahamas on Dec. 1, where the Hero World Challenge held by the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Since his 79th win since 2013, Woods plummeted to 711th in the world with no wins due to a long blank in his career. This is why eyes are on how Woods will play at his first official competition after the Wyndham Championship last August. Golf broadcaster Johnny Miller gave a rosy outlook, saying that “Tiger Woods is a fighter, and I really pick him to win six or eight tournaments in the second career.” However, given his recent wounds in waist, ankle, elbow, neck, and wrist, pessimists view that Woods may suffer injuries again, and even a short-game yips may lead to chronic injury.

The “weapon” Woods is going to use will also be another conversation piece, as his main sponsor Nike Golf gave up manufacturing golf balls and clubs. Therefore, Woods is highly likely to use a putter made by another brand, just like Rory Mcllroy who grabbed the trophy at Deutsche Bank Championship last week.

Peer golfers also sent their warm welcome as Woods decided to start his second career. The current world number 1 Jason Day (Australia) said “I’ve been waiting for so long for his comeback.” Mcllory also welcomed that “thank heavens I don’t compete with Woods at his comeback tour. His unique charisma will heat up the tour.”
