A Chinese news outlet strongly warned on Tuesday that the sanctions against South Korea have already started and the THAAD deployment will harm the bilateral relationship as well as trades. The newspaper had claimed that China should retaliate against South Korea’s THAAD deployment decision.

“China will take all necessary measures going forward to counter the threats,” the Global Times said, arguing that Korea should take the equivalent toll as the threat the anti-ballistic missile system will cause to China. The newspaper also urged Beijing to take retaliation measures, noting that it would be inevitable even if the sanctions might affect China at the same time.

"South Korea should think three times before acting” against the interest of China in the future," the newspaper said. "The United States could not spare the blame if both Korea and China are left hurt.

The state-backed newspaper has been leading the "THAAD retaliation" movement, demanding counter-measures against South Korea immediately. After the location for the THAAD was decided on July 8, it claimed that China should sanction against North Gyeongsang Province where Seongju is located.
