At least seven bombing attacks including suicide bombings occurred in downtown Jakarta, Indonesia, killing seven and injuring dozens.

According to foreign media on Thursday, seven bombing terror attacks occurred near Sarinah Department Store in central Jakarta, from 10:30 a.m. on the day. There were exchange of fires between police and terrorists in the area from noon, which continued for more than two hours.

Jakarta police spokesman Muhammad Iqbal said that seven people including four terror suspects died (due to the bombings and exchange of fires).

The area located at the heart of the Indonesian capital is home to the presidential palace, a U.N. office complex, shopping malls, foreign embassies and hotels. A suicide bombing took place at a Starbucks Coffee shop near the department store, while a nearby police box was also under bombing attack.

Sutiyoso, the chief of the National Intelligence Agency of Indonesia, told Reuters that these incidents were apparently terrorist attacks, but there was no clear evidence that it was linked with ISIS.

“There are no victims of Korean nationals that have been identified so far,” a Korean foreign ministry spokesman said. “The Korean Embassy in Indonesia is checking the situation on the incident and whether any Korean nationals suffered damage or not.”
