The U.S. Treasury Department has put increasing pressure on North Korea by revealing photos of its vessels illegally transshipping goods. It warned that Pyongyang would pay a hefty price for its illegal cyber activities as well.

The Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation of the department released on Friday (local time) on its twitter account nine photographs of North Korean vessels transshipping illegally on the sea this May and June. A photo shot on May 18 in the East China Sea depicted Panama vessel Shang Yuan Bao and North Korean Baek Ma, sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council, engaging in transshipping. A control vessel took these shots since it found there were suspicious activities between them. The Baekma used a pseudonym "PUMA" on the inner side of the vessel with some parts of the name Baek Ma on the rear side hidden with paints. The Shang Yuan Bao covered some parts of its name with paints.

The Treasury Department welcomed additional sanctions of North Korean Kum Un San 3, Panama Shang Yuan Bao and New Regent at the U.N. Security Council level imposed on Oct. 16 for getting involved in illegal transshipping of refined oil. The department also added to call on U.N. member states to suspend sale of refined oil to North Korea.
