U.S. President Donald Trump said that denuclearization deal with North Korea might not “work out.” While he emphasized his unwavering trust in Kim Jong Un, the young dictator of North Korea, the level of trust ratcheted down compared to the amicable mood between Washington and Pyongyang in the wake of the Singapore summit where the U.S. president publicly announced that “North Korea’s nuclear threats have come to an end.”

“I made a deal with him, I shook hands with him, I really believe he means it,” said Trump during an interview with Fox News on Sunday (local time). When asked if it would be possible to trust Kim, Trumps said, “Now, is it possible? Have I been in deals, have you been in things where, people didn’t work out?,” answering his own question with the conclusion that “it is possible.”

Mr. Trump’s remarks came out after the reports last month from the local news outlets including the Washington Post and NBC that Pyongyang harbors an intention to conceal its nuclear facilities even after the summit meeting between the North and the United States.

During the interview with Fox, however, Mr. Trump maintained his optimism on North Korea. The U.S. president stressed several times that he and Mr. Kim are keeping a very good relationship. In addition, Mr. Trump repeatedly claimed that the United States had not allowed any concessions to North Korea yet.
