U.S. President Donald Trump said he would discuss the withdrawal from Korea-U.S. free trade agreement (FTA). His remarks to consider the withdrawal from the deal that he was discontented with is expected to shake both economic cooperation and security alliance between the two countries.

President Trump hinted at withdrawal from the Korea-U.S. FTA while visiting Houston, Texas to meet with victims of Hurricane Harvey on Saturday (local time). When reporters asked if he instructed advisers to prepare to withdraw the U.S. from a free-trade agreement with South Korea as posted on the Washington Post the previous day, Trump said, “It is very much on my mind.”

Officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that there has been much progress on the withdrawal within the White House and an official withdrawal process could begin as early as next week.
