There is a growing interest in Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, despite declining approval rating of her husband Emmanuel Macron.

French weekly magazine "Journal du Dimanche" reported on Sunday (local time) that the sales of fashion magazine "Elle" that published her exclusive interview after taking office, the Elysee Palace, exceeded 530,000 copies this month. Journal du Dimanche said that it was the biggest copies sold for the magazine in recent 10 years.

With regard to her first meeting with him, who is 24 years younger than her, she said, “I had a lot of happiness with my children (with her ex-husband), but at the same time, I felt I had to live ‘this love,’ as (French poet) Jacques Prevert to say, to be fully happy.” As for media reports covering the age gap between her and the president, she said, “I ended by telling myself, OK, I do not take it well, but I have to deal with it. All things will pass.”

Her unique fashion sense continues to make headlines. She received the attention of the media by wearing skinny jeans and blue shoes, even at the old age of 60s, when she met with American pop singer Rihanna. In the G7 summit that was held in May in Sicily, Italy, she stood out among wives of global leaders with her vividness by wearing white skinny jeans and red sweater, comparing to the wives with formal costumes.

Unlike her popularity, the approval rating of her husband is declining. An opinion poll institute Ifop and Journal du Dimanche conducted an opinion poll of 1,023 adults from Aug. 25 and 26 and 57 percent of respondents answered that they were dissatisfied with the president and the figure increased by 14 percentage points from last month.
