Samsung Electronics said Wednesday that it has been named the best brand in Asia in 2016 for the sixth year in a row, according to results from Asia’s Top 1,000 Brands by communication marketing firm Campaign Asia-Pacific and market research firm Nielson. U.S. tech giant Apple was the runner-up, trailed by Japan-based Sony and Switzerland-based Nestle.
The ranking, which aggregates views across 17 major product categories including automotive, retail, food and beverage and consumer electronics, is based on an online survey and offers measure of the most highly regarded brand names. The study explores consumer attitudes in 13 markets, including Korea, China, Japan, India, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia.
"The result came as Samsung coped with the Galaxy Note 7 case last year in a prompt and transparent manner, and successfully released the Galaxy S8 smartphones," the Campaign Asia-Pacific said.
