LG launches smartwatches equipped with Android Wear 2.1

LG Electronics is introducing the LG Watch Sports and the LG Watch Style that are equipped for the first time with Android Wear 2.0, Google’s latest smartwatch operating system, on Saturday.

Android Wear 2.0 allows users to download applications directly to their smartwatch without a smartphone.

The LG Watch Sports is capable of offering all different smartwatch functions including voice calls and transmission of text messages by using its own in-built LTE communication system without a smartphone.

The device comes with a 1.38-inch round plastic OLED display, and is priced at 451,000 won (390 U.S. dollars). The LG Watch Style is a slim design device which measures 10.79 millimeters in thickness, and enables the user to replace the strap to showcase an array of fashionable styles. The product in titan color costs 319,000 won (276 dollars) and that in rose gold 339,000 won (293 dollars).
